Research Associate - Civil Engineer, MSc, PhD Candidate, Expert in Hydroinformatics & Flood Risk Management
Mr. Dimitris Bouziotas is a Civil Engineer (NTUA) with postgraduate studies in Hydraulic Engineering and Water Management (MSc) at TU Delft in the Netherlands.
He is specialized in the fields of Hydrology, Water Resources Management & Hydroinformatics and has 5+ years of experience in applied research (KWR & Deltares / Netherlands, Department of Water Resources & Environment, NTUA / Greece, GIZ / Vietnam, JRC / Italy) as well as engineering consultancy (Hydroexigiantiki / Greece).
The focal points of his research are the design, modeling, optimization and quantitative analysis of water systems at risk.
Dimitris is also interested in applications of hydroinformatics, hydroclimatic stochastics and applied hydrology.
Initially, through his participation as a researcher in the European research projects TRUST and HELIX (EU-FP7), he worked with international multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated decision support tools in different contexts such as hydroelectric power systems, urban water management and for large-scale flood risk assessment models.
Dimitris then continued his working experience by contributing to a number of large European research (EU-FP7 and H2020) projects (STOP-IT, NextGen, BWaterSmart) as well as Dutch National Research projects (BTO Integraal Assetmanagement, SUPERLOCAL, VO SG) through his position as a researcher at the Dutch drinking water institute KWR.
