Dr. Ilias Karachalios is a distinguished Environmental Manager and Educator. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Education from Hellenic Open University (2023) and has obtained a MSc Degree in Environmental Conservation Management from University of South Wales (2005), a MEd Degree in Special Education from University of Nicosia (2021) and a Diploma in Environmental Management from University of Ioannina (2004).
With a career spanning over a decade in various educational settings, Ilias has made significant contributions to special, vocational, and Second Chance schools. He has been a Research Associate at the School of Pedagogical and Technological Education, since 2016. His project involvement is extensive, including key European initiatives like Erasmus+, MED, Life+, Interreg, and Horizon projects. His collaborations have included work with the Cyprus Institute and the Municipal Enterprise of Patras, focusing on sustainability and international projects.
Beyond academia, Ilias has collaborated with several private companies, NGOs, and institutes across Europe, enhancing his professional network and contributing to various sustainability initiatives. As a certified trainer, Ilias has been instrumental in shaping educational programs and has been actively involved in non-formal education. His accolades include winning a European entrepreneurial school competition, where he led a special school to outperform typical schools across the continent.
Ilias is an organizational member of TEDxPatras and the European Youngsters association, where he has played a pivotal role in community engagement and sustainability initiatives.
